(Sample) Wind Technician Job Description:
While an emerging industry, such as wind energy, has careers opportunities at all levels – entry, skilled and professional – there is a demand for wind technicians around the country at this time. Here is a sample job description for a wind tech. As with most jobs, you must pass a drug test and background check, have a valid drivers license and a clean driving history.
Responsibilities: Troubleshoot complicated mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical problems on variable pitch, variable speed turbines. Perform diagnostic analysis and all mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical component maintenance, repair or replacement of parts to correct malfunctions. Document work using computer based reporting procedures.
Qualifications: Technical electrical/electronic degree or min 3+ years work experience in electrical/electronic repair industry. Mechanical / diesel engine maintenance experience. Handle repetitive weight - 50 lbs; climb 250 feet towers; willingness to work in all weather conditions. Ability to: read, and interpret technical manuals, procedures, and regulations; to write reports; to subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure. Ability to take initiative, and work without direct supervision.

Veterans Green Corps (VGC) is hiring veterans who are up for a challenge and want to continue serving their country in America's great outdoors.
VGC conservation work is focused on protecting and preserving our public lands. Done in cooperation with national forests, national parks, the Bureau of Land Management, and state and local government agencies, these projects are an opportunity to take care of our national treasures while working alongside other vets with common goals.
Veteran crews are trained and hired to work on projects such as trail construction and maintenance, fencing, habitat improvement, hazardous fuels reduction, noxious weed removal, re-vegetation and more. Prior experience doing conservation work is not required!
